Reseller tips-Save money on thank you cards.

Are you a reseller? You don’t need to buy Thank You cards!

I’m cheap. I’m here to make money not spend money. Yes, I have spent money on Thank You cards in the past. I thought I was being cheap by getting these at the dollar store and even the thrift store. Now I know better.

I don’t have a thermal label printer, maybe someday. I print my labels the old fashioned way, with plain old paper and a printer. ( I use refurbished ink ) Then I use a paper cutter to cut the label to size, (cutting the label with scissors got old). The longer portion on the bottom is the perfect size for a Thank You card, just fold in half. Your customer will appreciate a nice hand written thought, whether on a card or a note.

Yes, Thank You cards are cute and yes, they get tossed. Save yourself some time and money using one of these paper choppers!

Reseller Organizing Hacks

Utilizing wall space for everyday shipping supplies.

I’m all about saving money and being practical. In the beginning of my reselling journey I kept all my shipping supplies in a tub. Every time I mad a sale, i’d pull out the tub and wrap my package on the kitchen table. Every time. Every sale. Yes, I know, why?

I remember seeing a storage hack on Pinterest using these wall organizers to arrange snacks in the pantry. Genius! These have other uses in other places! I actually have mine mounted on the wall and keep all my shipping supplies within close reach. Shipping and packaging is a lot easier having a designated area.

Why you should relist on Poshmark

Relisting stale unsold items on Poshmark works!

If you participate in CCO, you drop the price by 10%, and hope someone bites. Another CCO comes around! You drop the price again, no one bites. Hold on, there will be another CCO in a few days. Now your item is priced too low with too many likers, they weren’t going to buy anyway. Relist.

Offer to likers, great idea!!! Every person that ‘liked’ your item gets the offer with discounted shipping. Every person that had ever ‘liked’ the item gets alerted every time you drop the price even lower, this can make you look desperate after too many offers. Relist.

Users will ‘like’ an item for different reasons. Some actually like the item and hope you make an offer. Some sellers will like an item and save it when looking up comps. Party hosts will ‘like’ an item for a possible future host pick. Some will even ‘like’ an item and plan on buying someday, way in the future, like when they win the lottery. And, yes, some will throw you a ‘like’ thinking this is instagram, with no intention of every buying anything.

Relist those items, check the title and description for errors. Retake new photos if necessary. Get some new eyes on your closet and a better chance for sales.

Common Key terms used in Reselling

Ever see an item for sale as NIB or NWOT? Ever wonder what they mean? Here’s some common terms I’ve come across.

NIB new in box

NWOT new without tags

TTS true to size

OBO or best offer

MOC mint on card

NRFB never removed from box

COA certificate of authenticity

NOS new old stock

OOAK one of a kind

NBW never been worn

NIP new in package

NWT new with tags

BF best fit

VGC very good condition

BNWT brand new with tags

BNWOT brand new without tags

Depending on the platform you use, these terms can be useful in describing your item or saving space within the title. Buyers may also include these terms in their search. Be sure to include terms that fit your items description for better visibility. Have some terms to share? Let me know.

Reseller Must Have Items- Tag Gun

A Garment label or tagger gun is a reseller must!

Ever find a new with tag item and get super excited! Like score! Major money maker! Only to find later that it needs to be treated for a minor flaw or the tag falls off. What to do? This is where a tagging gun comes in handy.

There are so many available to choose from. The price levels are not too bad either, mine was about $8. You can easily reattach tags to items that need to be thrown in the dryer, dry cleaned, or just reattach tags that won’t stay.

I mainly use the gun for the gifts I include with most of my sales, which is a cute pair of new socks with my personalized ‘Thank you’ card attached. Picture below shows my gift and the gun I use.

Advertise on instagram!

If you are a reseller, advertise your items on instagram! It works!

Read your reviews. You will see how they found you!

Buyers are everywhere. They scroll instagram daily. Depending on the hashtags you use, your for sale items will magically appear in a potential buyers feed. Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags, use them all!

I currently use my instagram mainly to promote and grow my reselling business. I sprinkle in items for sale into my feed and stories. I specifically use the photos in the listing, making it easier for the potential buyer to find the item. Be sure to include within the post and story where your items are posted for sale. Including a link to the app or website is a must.

Buyers want easy access. They want a click and bam, they want the item. If a buyer has to click, search and message you. They move on. Make it easy for them to find your items.

Best boxes to use are the free ones, am I right?

When shipping Priority mail packages for ebay, Mercari and Poshmark, I try my best to use USPS Boxes. Click on the link, make an account and order your boxes. I reorder often before running out. Shipping times can vary, depending on the time of the year, so plan ahead. Here is a list of the ones I keep in stock.

Must have Reseller Items – Tissue Paper

Got tissue?

Every reseller uses tissue paper at some point. We all start off using the cute colors and prints. We package, tuck, fold, tie and marvel at our sale. We gently place it in the box and send it on it’s way. Unfolding those sheets is fun. At first. Then, we learn better.

At this point in my reselling journey, keeping costs low is priority. Don’t get me wrong. I still place my items in a bag, seal, and wrap in tissue. It took some time to find bulk tissue. The most economical way I have found (thanks to my husband), is in a bulk roll. The link and picture is below.

The price tag may scare you at first, but, after you do the math it will make sense. I am on my 3rd roll so far. I simply place the roll on top of a small file cabinet thing, I just turn the roll and rip off what I need. No, it’s not a sharp cut, but it saves time and money.

So, if you get tired of unfolding those sheets and constantly running out of tissue, give the bulk roll a try.

Must Have Reseller Items- scale

If you are reselling or mailing anything online, at some point it will be necessary to have a scale. Poshmark allows up to 5 lbs with their Priority mail label. If Poshmark is the only platform you use, most likely can get away without a scale. If you sell bundles of jeans and or shoes, it is best to weigh the package to ensure you are within the weight limit.

If your Poshmark package is over 5 lbs you will need to know the escat weight in order to upgrade your label within the app. Poshmark allows up to 10lbs and the difference will be taken from your earnings.

If you are shipping on your own via Paypal, Pirateship or other methods, a scale is a must. Especially when listing your items to ensure you are charging the correct fees. Since First class mail goes by ounces, you want to get this number correct to avoid your buyer getting any additional fees upon delivery.

Any food scale will work in the beginning until you are ready to upgrade. Below is the link to the scale I currently use.
